Top Ten Reasons Why Women Still Read Cosmopolitan

The rational side in us, if it has an opportunity, helps us turn up our nose in disdain merely at the sight of it at the grocery check out line. We don't need that last minute purchase to make us feel better (the Godiva ice cream pint will cover today's stresses, won't it?). We're really not that interested in Carmen Electra's latest wardrobe, the 10 Surefire Signs He's the 'One', or the latest horoscope epiphany from the Cosmo editors. Then again, the glossy pictures and free perfume samples sort of justify the purchase; and onto the checkout line it goes.

All intellectual pursuits and reading aside, Cosmopolitan Magazine enjoys a longstanding history with its female readers. It may not be the sugar-laced 'secrets' that spill out every issue that keep women reading; it might not even be the designer jeans ads that span the pages, filled with eye candy. Instead, Cosmopolitan has become a cultural icon for many young women; they don't necessarily aspire to become the model amongst those pages, but instead, can relate to other Cosmo readers because now, they're all in-the-know.
