Christmas Gift & Toy Drives: Where to Donate in Chicago - Whether you would like to give Christmas baskets, books, toys, money or the gift of time this Christmas, here are some organizations that reach out to the needy in the Chicagoland area:

The Cathedral Shelter of Chicago. Through this organization's Christmas Basket Program, you may give Christmas gifts and a certificate to purchase food for Christmas dinner to needy families. The Cathedral Shelter will provide you details of the family or individual you are sponsoring so you can purchase specific gifts accordingly. Santa for the Very Poor (SVP). This is an organization devoted to helping the needy specifically during Christmas. SVP accepts financial donations through its website (PayPal is accepted). Catholic Charities of the Archbishop of Chicago. By mid-November, gifts will be accepted for the annual Toy Shower and Sponsor-a-Family programs of Catholic Charities. Boys and Girls Club of Chicago (BGCC). This organization accepts donations of $10 and up year-round on its website to support its many programs that benefit kids in need.
