Area Wal-Mart stores incorporate a new standard policy, and not for the better of the hourly associates. The company has cut and trimmed so many hours of the hourly associates-that it makes it almost impossible to make a living under their two week pay period. The notification of the layoffs came to

a surprise to those associates who relied on their hours to pay their immediate bills and obligations.

And in this election time, what is on Wal-Mart corporate executives mind is what will benefit the company-is in the best interest of the company no matter what.

The week 36 schedule was removed from the associates viewing area, only to be revamped in the self interest of every Horry County Wal-Mart stores. The company indecisiveness has left many full-time associates feeling even less compelled to walk through the doors of Wal-Mart with a smile on their face and working through their day with a positive attitude.

Facts and true findings from the Wake Up Wal-Mart home page:

"The average two-person family (one parent and one child) needed $27,948 to meet basic needs in 2005, well above what Wal-Mart reports that its average full-time associate earns." And believe it or not-the wages have not increased since that period in time. In fact the hourly wages of senior employees have been caped off-if an associate reaches the maximum of $13.25 an hour, there will be no more raises given due to reaching the maximum salary cap.

Many full-time associates are constantly under scrutiny on a daily basis, if they fail to re-open their availability status or comply, they could be written-up for disobeying a direct order from management, and the drama does not end there. Wal-Mart has chosen to hire temporary help outside of the United Sates, not only does this save the company money in so many ways. It is also a political move on the part of Wal-Mart to preserve its supreme status. The associates that are hired outside of the U.S. receive a better pay of $2 a more an hour, in comparison to the standard of $7.25 an hour for new associates.
