A Monday, but What a Monday!
I came back to my area from evacuation on Friday evening, luckier than a lot that I had electricity.Saturday and Sunday I was concentrating on trying to get some of the tree debris off my property. My body feels my efforts.
I went back to work today in Sabine Pass.
Before I even got that far, the stench from dead animals, unknown, was horrid.
Our work sites were in ruins and some even just not there anymore. Really, it could have been much worse.
So tighten your boot straps and get on with it. That is what southeast Texas does.
Mud and muck inside and out. We packed up the things that we hadn't packed up prior to our evacuation. Some of us were present on the site today; many more were trying to edge their way back, locate housing, etc.
Poor Sabine Pass is a wreck again. I have not spoken to any of the locals so I do not know their sentiments of this particular storm.
Dead things had been cleared before I arrived on site.
There was a small (I'm assuming by it's location) alligator located in a water jug rack outside our offices. He later disappeared and I was wary whenever I went outside our ruined offices the whole afternoon.
I have to be cautious at my house in the woods as well.
We had taken great care to pack the most important things and to settle the work sites prior to our leaving. It is really paying off now. But, hey!, we're all from southeast Texas and Louisiana and know about these 'events'.
I will probably not write much to you in the days to come as there is not that much to tell. You can google sites to find sensational stories and real photos.
I won't do that to y'all.
I am dead dog tired, sore and goodness knows I need rest and sleep.
I will try to write a little tomorrow.
God keep you all.
