Find Vintage 1950's and 1960's Christmas Records for Children and Adults

The first phonograph was invented back in the late 1880's by Thomas Edison. Christmas music became popular during the last stages of the depression. But it wasn't until the 1930's that the phonograph and records themselves became really popular. The 78 record was taking the recording industry by
storm. These records could be played on any record player unlike prior to this, each record making company made their own record players to play them on and were not interchangeable. The 45 rpm record and its color picture sleeve was developed after World War II and was geared mostly towards the young children. Records became better known as albums when the 12" LP was developed in the 1950's along with its sleeve. The larger album covers gave illustrators more room to express their talents in designing covers.

Christmas Carols have been performed by many, many diverse artists. For those of you who have kept all your old 45's and 78 rpm vinyl records, hats off to you! Finding them now is not easy and can get very expensive to the collector now.

There are many vintage Christmas records out on EBay but I have also found a few places that people may not know about that have these records for sale, although not in huge selections or quantities but are hard to find and rare just the same. I have found a few shops that specialize in children's Christmas songs dating back to the 1950's and l960's and I have listed them here for you to see as well.
