In this tutorial I will show you how to create a brush stroke silver chrome text effect. This is a really cool text effect. The brush stroke comes from the BrushStroke Plain font. You wil
l need to download and install this font if you do not have it. The silver chrome effect comes from applying different effects. I will walk you through creating this text effect in Fireworks.

Open your Fireworks program and create a new canvas to work on. You can create the canvas larger than you need it and crop it before exporting it. Then grab the text tool and draw a text box on your canvas. Type what you want in the text box. You will need to apply the BrushStroke Plain font style to the text. Then change the size of the text. I used a size 96 for my text but you can use any size that you want.

Now we will need to apply a gradient effect to the text for the color fill. If you get confused while trying to change the colors, take a look at the Gradient Color Image that I have provided to get a visual of it. Click the color fill box and click Fill Options. Change the fill options to gradient and select Linear. You will need to add a couple of boxes. Look at the image that I provided to see where you will need to place the boxes.

The first color is going to be #DDDDDD, the second one is going to be #F4F4F4, the third one is going to be #E4E4E4, the fourth one is going to be #FFFFFF, and the last one is going to be #CCCCCC. Again, take a look at the image and there will be red lines pointing to the boxes and you will see the colors that need to go to each box. Now you can click off of the box to close it. Now you will need to apply a stroke color to it. Click the stroke color box and change it to #CCCCCC.

We're almost there. Now we've got to apply a couple of effects. First, we will need to apply the Brightness and Contrast effect. Click the Effects button and select Adjust Color > Brightness/Contrast. When the box opens, apply the following settings. The brightness needs to be set to negative 4. The contrast needs to be set to 59. Click OK on the box to apply the settings and close the box.

  • You will need to download and install this font if you do not have it.
  • The silver chrome effect comes from applying different effects.
