Strategies for Hardening Those Abs

It is December and that means that the bathing suits have been put away for at least a few months. That has not stopped folks from wanting those six pack abs, though. It seems like everybody and their brother is looking to get a six pack these days. Personally, I would just like for somebody to give
me a six pack of beer each and ever morning, but a lot of folks want their abdominals to look chiseled like the Greek gods of old. I can promise you that it is much easier to buy a six pack of booze from the store than it is to get the six pack abs. There are some ways, however, to work on your stomach muscles and come up with that six pack. I have included various ways to get a six pack and I am not talking about microbrew.

The first and most effective way to do this is through crunches. Crunches are painful stomach exercises where you lie on the ground with both of your hands behind your head and your knees going up to the air. After you are comfortable and in position, you must use the upper stomach muscles to lift your shoulders off of the ground and bringing your knees up to meet your elbows. This may seem easy, but after two hundred of them, you should feel as if you have been through a workout. The key to this is to do these things quickly and in large number.

Combine crunches with the traditional sit-up, where you lie flat on your back with your legs straight in front of you. Have someone or something sit on your feet to keep them in place. From there, use the lower abdominals to lift yourself upwards into a 90 degree angle. By doing this repeatedly, your lower abs will work enough to look like those upper abs. These abs are much more difficult to tighten, so you might want to take extra care to do as many sit-ups as possible.

Leg lifts and running are valuable ways to build muscle and remove the excess fat from your midsection. In order to get a six-pack, you need build muscle, lose weight, and remove the excess fat. If you do any of these things without doing the other, then your results will be much less than satisfactory. A good combination workout is the most effective way to get a nice six pack.
