Tactics for Slowing Down and Relaxing

Most people live their lives on full speed and they never take the time to relax. Relaxation is supposed to be easy. You are supposed to be able to kick off your shoes, grab a beer, and sit on a nice couch to take a break. Many people simply do not know how to do this and that is certainly sad. One
of the easiest things in the world has now become one of the things that some people can not master. As an expert in the field of relaxation, I am here to offer a little bit of advice on how to do it. With these techniques, you can be relaxing in no time.

Begin eating a healthy diet and start today. Sugar and caffeine are your enemies, as they both cause severe ups and downs, upsetting your body's ability to regulate energy. Instead of sugary, eat carbohydrate loaded snacks like cookies or granola bars, eat fresh fruits and whole grain breads or crackers that are sugar-free. Make sure that you get plenty of protein, like the kind that is often found in chicken, lean beef, whole grains, and low fat dairy.

Some people need to find a quiet place in order to relax. This is a perfectly fine technique for relaxing. Once in a quiet place, close your eyes and picture your own personal paradise. Put yourself there and imagine the setting. What do you see around you? Is there a breeze? What do you hear--birds? Waves? Water? Imagine yourself thoroughly enjoying every moment here in your special place.

Think about the things that often trigger your stress and distance yourself from that. When you return to work (or school), pick one task--only one--and focus on it. When it is finished, pick the next one. Do not allow yourself to think about all the other millions of things you have to do. Think about the task at hand only, until you have to set it aside and work on something else.
