Heroes Season 3 Premier-- Love it or Leave It?

I'm Going to Leave It

After watching Heroes with my husband faithfully since the first episode aired, we decided after last night's premier of season 3 that we are done. I thought it was only going to be an hour long, and I was surprised by the wave of disappointment that came over me as I realized the premier was going to last ANOTHER hour. The first thought that ran through my head wasn't "I can't wait to see what happens next" but, "Great. I have to wait another hour before I can get back to reading Brisingr (the new book in Christopher Paolini's Inheritance saga)."

Read no more if you have yet to see the episode and still have plans to watch it online, because I will now share some spoilers. Though, can you really spoil something that has already gone bad?

I was upset to find Sylar's attack of Claire so nonchalantly thrown into the first few minutes of the episode. After basing an entire season around saving her from Sylar, it made no sense to me that her power would be so carelessly taken. Claire's flash forward was also a disappointment. I really don't think her character would ever turn so bitter, no matter what horrible things happened in the future.

And the idea that Mohinder, a scientist, would be so careless in shooting himself with an untested shot of superpower syrup seemed out of character, as did his sexual rendezvous with ole black tears Maya. One would think her conservative upbringing in Mexico would have kept her legs together for at least a few more episodes.

And Nathan Patrelli's religious epiphany also seemed unlikely for a man of such rationality. Maybe they are trying to pull in some new viewers from those of the churcy persuasion? It just makes me lose interest in the show when all the characters I know and love change and do things they would never have done if the writers fromt the first season were still on board.

And don't even get me started on Nikki/Tracy and her newfound ice fingers ability. What will they come up with next?
