I work in Infovision Software Private Limited. This is a medical transcription company with its branches in Mumbai and Kolkata in India. I work in Kolkata. Our new office is at Gariahat. It is inside Ballygunge New Market. This is the first time our office faced so many strikes. Our company stresses on productivity. It took a brilliant step of not closing down the office on 14th December 2006. In a private company, the employees work adds to the profit of a company. So our office hired accommodation for its employees to take rest. Our company took the wise step of providing accommodation to employees so that the employees can work in the day of strike on the 14th. We got the food from the office canteen and we stayed in the lodge nearby the office. Some of my friends with whom I talked through Orkut (a friendship site) told that they are also working.
We stayed in Dover Guest House. It is situated in Dover Lane just beside our office. We stayed there on the 13th and 14th night in this guesthouse as it is a 24-hour strike. This strike is an industrial strike called by CITU, a political party in India. I went to the guest house on 13th as it is my off day. I went to the office from where I was told that we will stay in Dover Guest House which is in Dover Lane. This lane is famous for classical musical conferences.
