Recently I had the chance to try out one of Nikon's digital cameras. This is my review on the camera.

The camera i am talking about is the Nikon Coolpix S600. It is capable of taking 10 megapixel pictures. These pictures are very detailed when transferred onto a computer, well usually. Sometimes, the pictures turn out a little blur. It has a 4x optical zoom, which is angle wide. Pretty good I must s
ay. The camera can zoom far objects quite well and it turns out clear too. Even the digital zooming capabilities are quite good. I did not experience much trouble when taking pictures (such as the white specks which appear randomly on the screens of other cameras when zooming).

I don't have much to say about the video capabilities. The video recording is good, but that's it. Nothing exceptional about it. The preview is done via a 2.7" LCD screen. The screen displays your video/pictures very clearly and colorfully. At that size, it is large enough for you to view and zoom on the picture without having to transfer it onto a computer.

The camera comes with a SD card slot. SD cards can be inserted in this slot and used to expand the memory in case the internal memory is not enough (and I assure you that since the internal memory is a mere 45MB, it will never be enough especially when you are taking pictures or videos at maximum resolution.

The camera has some specialties too. One is the image stabilization function. With this function, blurring caused by sudden movements while taking pictures is greatly reduced. Second is the red eye, or rather the absence of red eyes. Every one who has taken pictures will know that sometimes the people in the pictures taken have red eyes. With the S600, there is almost no red eye occurrences (I did not even see one picture taken with this camera where the people had red eyes)

Only one problem: this camera is extremely sensitive. I have heard from several people that the camera gets spoilt very quickly, even when it is dropped only once. If you can ignore that (or if you are a very careful person), then you will love this camera for its features and capabilities.
