If you and your group are looking for a costume idea that will work for everyone, then zombie costumes may be what you were looking for. Zombies seem to be very popular this year.
The first thing you need to do as a group to prepare your zombie costumes is the practice acting like zombies. This is a costume where half of the work is in convincingly portraying the subject. Once you get your zombie walk and stare down to a science, you may even want to work on your entrance in you are going to a party or something. Perhaps you can perform the Michael Jackson Thriller Dance, or at least a portion of it.
To dress up in zombie Halloween costumes you need to first gather some outfits from your closets that you do not mind destroying. Choose something that is nice and fashionable, but with a stain on it so aren't mistaken for a bloody hobos.
Use a razor to shred your outfits up a bit. You want it to look like you were attacked and scratched up by other zombies before turning into zombies yourselves. Make random cuts in the outfits, being careful not to cut the outfit in strategic places.
Purchase fake blood and drip it on the clothing. Hang the outfits up and drip blood on them so that it runs down it for realistic dripping as if the blood dripped from wounds and from your mouths.
Finally, put on your zombie makeup. This may take a while, so be sure to start getting ready early. Help each other put on white makeup foundation, of if you are dark skin, a lighter than usual foundation. Make dark circles around the eyes and purchase scar tattoos to apply to your face and/or arms. Also, put fake blood at the corners of the mouth so that it looks like it is dripping.
