2009 Hyundai Genesis Review and Comparison

Hyundai Genesis: If Lexus, BMW and Mercedes Aren't Nervous, They Should Be

Hyundai Genesis has arrived. The 2009 Hyundai Genesis is now appearing in Hyundai Dealer showrooms across the country. So now that the Super Bowl commercials have aired, the media and dealer hype is fading, people want to know what's left. What is
so great about the Hyundai Genesis? Does the Hyundai Genesis stand on its own against the competition?

A car this affordable this good simply boggles the mind. Those looking at Lexus or Infiniti would do well to visit a special little corner of a Hyundai dealership. One test-drive might begin to tip the scale. The Hyundai Genesis boasts the size, power, and comfort to rival that of Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes contenders, but at nearly half the cost.

While the Genesis lacks some of the attention to detail as some luxury competitors, for example the leather stitching and wood trim are nicer in the Lexus, but the Lexus also costs twice as much. That's a huge difference in price for a minor upgrade in interior trim. Yet despite this, most Lexus buyers aren't shopping the Genesis (they should) given it's superior driving experience and a three-year residual value which ranks higher then the BMW 550i, the Infinity M45 or the Lexus GS 460. The Hyundai Genesis residual even beats out the Mercedes E550. How's that for a Hyundai?!

For the money, the 2009 Hyundai Genesis comes loaded with standard features. A 4.6L DOHC V8 engine, 6 speed automatic transmission with SHIFTTRONIC, a power tilt and slide sunroof, premium leather seats, a Lexicon 14 speaker surround sound audio system with MP3 and XM Satellite Radio support. The Hyundai Genesis Audio system also offers an IPod and USB input jack with 6 CD in dash changer. Other luxurious features include power seats, power steering wheel with tilt and telescopic controls, rain sensing windshield wipers, power sunshade, Navigation system, rear backup sensor and chrome dual exhaust.
