Home Decorating can be a huge task with so many options and ideas floating around out there. Pick up any magazine and you'll find a wide variety of themes or "looks" for rooms in your house. But if you're like me, you don't know how to get your room to look like one of those wonderfully decorated spaces shown on home improvement shows or in home magazines. Not only that, but the cost of new furniture, paint and accessories can be fairly high. So, here are some simple tips to spruce up your space and look like a home decorating pro.

1. Pick one strong color and accent the room with it. Don't go overboard and paint the walls bright orange, but instead add a few throw pillows and a nice flower arrangement in the same hue. Eye-popping accessories will brighten any room and add just the right amount of color. So, if your living room is beige and brown, throw in a red lamp, a bunch of red tulips and a red throw on the couch. This breaks up those neutral colors and makes your room a little more interesting.

2. Look for new furnishings in other areas of your house. That being said, when purchasing new furniture, keep it neutral and versatile. You never know what colors or patterns will be in style next year, so by getting neutral colors, it will blend in with any future décor. Also, you might want to pull a chair from the living room and add it to the corner in your bedroom, so you probably wouldn't want a chair made out of horse themed tapestry.

3. Perk up blandness with a bold pattern. Add a strong print in the dining room by find a coordinating tablecloth. Stripes are great and give a modern feel to a room, while floral patterns create a homey feel. If you have simple curtains in a solid color, sew on ribbon, trim or fabric strips along the bottom to liven up your windows. If your bathroom is plain white, pick out a bold printed shower curtain and accent with towels the same shades found in the print.
