ated in the untouched area of Gabon, Africa. It's a beautiful area of the world, and the scenery quickly took on its own roll as a character in the show during the premiere. The wildlife also made itself known, as an elephant almost made it into the camps on the first day of shooting. For the first episode of this season, CBS put together two episodes to become the two hour premiere, and ended up showing what could be an exciting cast to watch.

To start off the competition, Host Jeff Probst told the cast that the two elder members of the 18 contestants would be the heads of each tribe, and help to make selections on who would be on each team. Gillian, a retired nurse from California ended up heading one tribe, while Bob, a physics teacher from Maine helped select the second tribe. The problem was evident really early, when Gillian chose a mother for her first choice, and then the team selected another middle-aged woman. Bob went the other route, as his team tried to select the most athletic players available. When the dust had settled, Gillian's tribe was extremely out-matched, and that because even more evident when they were blown out of the first challenge. In the following immunity challenge, they were soundly defeated again, making it look like this was going to be a very long season for one of the tribes.
