If you have recently started a blog but have no idea on how to generate new traffic to your web site then EntreCard is a great starting point. EntreCard is a blog network that allows you to create your own virtual business card and promote your blog via a number of possible venues. In this article we will look at some of the ways to use EntreCard and the basics of getting your account working.

Getting your account running with EntreCard:

The first step to starting to promote your blog is to sign up with EntreCard. Go to www.entrecard.com and complete the signup form with a valid email address. Once you register you will be asked to place a widget on your blog in order to activate your membership. If you do not put the widget on your page EntreCard will not place your blog in the directory listings. Also if you take the widget off of your blog then EntreCard will remove your blog from the listings and eventually set your account to inactive. If you have accidentally removed the widget code or wish to change the display of the Widget you can get your code again from the "Get Code" link when you log in. Once you get registered and your blog set up on EntreCard you can begin networking and start generating traffic. The setup process is pretty straight forward and will take you through the steps of creating a card and getting the widget code into your blog.

Starting to network your blog:

EntreCard allows you to promote your blog by dropping your card on other people's blogs and by purchasing ads on other blogs. In order to purchase ads on other blogs you will first need to earn credits as EntreCard uses a virtual currency of their own. You can earn credits by:

- Posting on your own blog. Each post earns you 25 credits. EntreCard pays out every three days for blog postings.

- Letting other people advertise on your blog. The cost to advertise on your blog will vary depending on how in demand your blog is. At first your blog will be inexpensive but over time it will become worth more to advertise on as more people will discover you and place ads. Each ad returns 25% of the add cost to you in credits.
