Seems to Be Making All the Wrong Moves

Most people know me as a conservative. That is what you would probably expect a Bible student to be. Further, it would not surprise you to know Barack Obama holds a couple of opinions I s

trongly disagree with. Nonetheless, this is one of the few times I have to look in the mirror and say to myself, "To back McCain and Palin would be a mistake." While initially for them, they have embarrassed and scared me.

Don Payne on Boston.com, is reporting that John McCain's trustworthiness as a candidate is failing because of recent actions. Sarah Palin, too, is coming off not as today's confident woman, but rather as an "airhead" as the article said.

In his article "Sell! Sell! McCain is Tanking!" Payne gives some reason why McCain's popularity has dramatically dropped.

McCain called the economy fundamentally strong ten days ago and now runs back to Washington to "help" indicating that the economy is very weak.

The problem is that in the process he said he would dodge a debate with Obama and further, he didn't show for an appointment with David Letterman. Now my logic on that is if Oprah can dodge Palin, then McCain can dodge Letterman. My reality is that talk shows are not bastions of truth-seeking anyway. However, it looks bad. Since McCain didn't show Letterman took a shot at McCain-and Palin.

That really isn't the issue however. McCain has ignored his responsibility to the American people. He has lent no help to the Washington economy talks.

Obama made two excellent points. First, the American people want to know what the incoming President has to say about this mess. Further, and I believe an excellent point, is that McCain and Obama bring news cameras and there is the desire by Congress to showboat. More things get done out of the light of the camera. He's right.

So what has this cost McCain?

Sarah Palin dropped the ball with Katie Couric having trouble coming across as a believable high-level politician.

The economy could very well decide this election. McCain needs a plan to fix the economy - not claim that everything is fine. I still believe however that McCain has a good chance at winning this election. He may need some help though. If republicans do not stand fully behind the stances of McCain and Palin, this election could be over. The swing states are swinging more toward Barack and Biden than ever.

McCain will say and do anything to get elected. You had to enjoy watching him trying to defend Palin's statement yesterday saying exactly what McCain had hit Obama for saying! Palin was a MAJOR mistake and many are seeing what a dangerous choice she really is! About time McCain's lies and choices are being addressed instead of Palin's lies and choices!

she was his first mistake ...finally I see a light at the end of the tunnel...thanks for this important article

McCain has run out of distractions and his lies are starting to catch up to him. The more a person lies, the less a person is in touch with reality, and so it goes with McCain.

How about using our troops to patrol our borders. (all our borders) We need all Americans here in America. We don't need another Bush in the White House. This seems to be our problem. We need tax reform, start using our taxes toward us the American people (medical insurance) instead of sending out a check in the middle of the year to everyone try giving everyone equal medical. Look at Sweden's policies, and try that on for size. We americans need to work together, and McCain isn't what we need to unite us. We don't need him at all!!

The American economy is fundamentally strong.Obama and his power tools(MSM) denigrates that fact, a fact uttered by the only true patriot running in this race. The backbone of our economy is strong, that doesn't mean the back can't break. Obama throws the fundamentals of America under the bus and the hordes afflicted by Bush Derangement Syndrome & naivete all clap. Sorry state of affairs. Rick Davis is cited, but Obama's complicity w/ institutions that drove our economy into this turmoil is forgiven. The proof is out there, all we have to do is unplug Obama's power tools and check the record ourselves. McCain has a proven record of accomplishments. Weighing ALL of McCain's negatives it doesn't add up to the economy damaging, subversive, corrupt, and even terrorist ties Obama is wallowing in. It is very easy to find, start with Google. I remember as a kid a friend stopped being a Giant fan and started rooting for Dallas because the Cowboys started to win.

Fundamentally..down here where we are working and doing our day to day activities..the economy is still strong. It's the financial lending machine that is in trouble. If we peons kept business like the banking and loan institutions..we would be in trouble too. So, I didn't find fault with McCain's statement.

Interesting points on McCain. He makes me nervous, but I tend to lean on the side of liberal, anyway, so it's interesting to hear your side of the story.

And people still contribute to the so-called conservative party and stand up for them. It is time to grow as a nation. The last eight years have not only inhibitted our growth but set us back. Think of what could have been accomplished in eight years! Instead of a failing economy, war-related deaths, and out of control energy costs we could have focused efforts and funding on improving life for our citizens.
