Beauty in the Kitchen

You have read those magazines on the store rack while sitting in line at the register in the grocery store. The ones that have all the beauty products in it: Marie Claire, Vanity Fair, Elle, Seventeen, and Cosmo. And if you're like me, you just cannot afford all the wonderful products they advertise
which seem so great. Not everyone can go to the spa and look like a million bucks everyday either... That's why I've always had a tradition of setting aside one day to take some personal time for a little home spa treatment.

There is a whole world of natural items that you can probably find in your kitchen and bathroom cabinets that you could use to make you feel like you've spent a day at the spa - even like a celebrity. So instead of buying those expensive products you find in those magazines, try these next time you want to pamper yourself:

Exfoliate the dry skin away and reveal a new you!
Salt! Yes, ordinary table salt can be a wonderful tool to gently rub away the dead flaky skin that leaves you looking dull rather than lustrous. Salt is nature's gentle exfoliating scrub, but more amazingly it is a natural anti-bacterial. It restricts the growth of bacteria. Your pores will soak up the salt and if you have any issues with acne on your face or even body, it's sure to aid in clearing up the skin. Take a dab of your favorite lotion, moisturizing body wash, or even plain baby's oil (or any cooking oil you have [though be sure to wash your body after exfoliating]) and you'll be on your way to clear shining new skin.

  • Salt is a natural exfoliating substance when combined with an oil based moisturizer.
  • Honey can also be used to treat wounds due to it's antibacterial properties and the natural release of hydrogen peroxide.
  • Olive Oil has over twenty different variations all depending on how it's created from the Olive.
