Are you curious about the signs of sleep deprivation? Well, so are tens of thousands of other people out there. The truth is that sleep deprivation and insomnia are more common then people think. In fact, it's reported that some 64 million Americans were afflicted by insomnia just last year alone. If you, too, think you might have insomnia or are suffering from sleep deprivation, then continue reading.Here are a few of the common signs of sleep deprivation...
Irritable: The tiniest things annoy you, causing you to be quite short with those around you. It's not one thing in particular that's causing you to be annoyed, it's just everything in general.
Extremely Tired: This isn't your "Wow, it's been a long day" sort of tired. It's more of a constant feeling of exhaustion and tiredness. You don't feel like doing anything at all, even if someone paid you to do it.
Dull Memory: Doesn't matter what happened, where it happened, how it happened, you just don't know. There may be a vague recollection of the event in your mind, but when it comes to specifics, you can't be of any help.
Unsharpened Senses: Your reaction time is that of a toddler, making it hard for you to react to situations as quickly as you normally would. In addition to your lack of coordination, your vision may become blurry from time to time as well.
No Concentration: You're on "Cloud 9". The lights are on, but nobody's home. You're "spaced out". Your body may be physically there, but your mind is gone, wondering and thinking about everything and nothing at the same time. Put it this way: if you're in charge of doing something, it's not going to get done.
These are merely a few of the signs of sleep deprivation; there are many more, unfortunately. However, If you happen to have any of the above symptoms (on a constant basis), there is a strong chance that you're suffering from sleep deprivation; if not, something worse.
