Ten Reasons Why You Should Play the Matrix Online

Forget What You Knew About the Matrix Online - This is a New Experience

Back in March 2005, The Matrix Online launched with much fanfare. As to be expected with any new online game, there were server issues. Some of the game mechanics, such as Live Events (server-wide events involving the ongoing storyline that made up The Matrix Online), were new concepts
and endured growing pains regarding communication and other technical issues. Most importantly, there were design decisions (and subsequent handling) by the developers that were flawed. In short, the game was not the success people hoped for. The game was sold within three months to Sony, the development staff was cut back, and the community shrank. Development of the continued on, however. Great strides have been made to improve the game since launch, and if you gave the game a pass early on, you're missing out on a vastly improved experience. Part refresher, part introduction, here are ten reasons why you should be playing The Matrix Online:

1. Game engine

The Matrix Online has a great-looking graphics engine, which scales to the user's video card performance. If you have a more powerful video card, you will obviously see an improvement. The game is simply gorgeous on a high-end card. The slick thing is that if you have a low-end card, while you may not see as much detail, the game is very playable, thus not boxing certain customers out. This was the design from beginning, and offers a wider audience the opportunity to play the game, while thinking ahead to future advancements.

2. Huge city to explore

All the more impressive is the scale of the city. While not all rooms are available to enter at all times, the detail within them is amazing, and movement around the city (and its various districts) is smooth. The only caveat is that you start off in the "slums" area of the game, so you have to work your way up to reaching International and Downtown, which are truly awesome to behold. Part of the fun is discovering locations from the movie trilogy, such as the famous lobby scene, where Neo fought the 100 Smiths, and more. You could spend hours just exploring the territory.

3. Dynamic character abilities

Don't forget about THE MATRIX thing itself. the Roleplaying is intense. Be Captain, First Mate or part of the Crew in an Hovercraft (and name it also), prepare for the return of the One or dance in the "Hell club" is algo creative for some personal storytelling. The Matrix is a whole smart concept, with the Red-Blue pills matter, the Agents hunting you and the Relationship between Zion-Matrix-Merovingian. This adds a Roleplay never seen before in an Online Game.

The graphics are still the best I've seen in an mmo. Makes World of Weirdos look like it was drawn by five year old kids. Alot of the bugs have been resolved, some new less annoying ones are in, the story is rolling again close to chapter 7. Get a trial key and check it out, free client, some bonus abils if you trial in.

As an avid MxO player for almost two years, its very nice to see some good press on this game. Having gone through many changes since launch, this game gets better every week.
