I am upset...I am angry...I am afraid.
Soon, I will be unemployed again.
I am so sick of this, so sick of worrying,
So sick of feeling useless,
So tired of having the door continuously slammed in my face;
Painfully heartbroken to lose the friends that I have made;
I am so fed up with the current system that allows things like this to happen;
I am filled with disillusionment;
Battered by dreams that are just out of reach;
Of opportunities that are right within my grasp;
Then, they are taken away from me;
I don't want everything...I just want something;
I don't strive for riches, just a living wage;
My body hurts and my vision is blurred;
My youth is fading as fast as my hopes for the future;
Yet, I soldier on, if only by the grace of God;
Last night, I lashed out at Him;
And I told Him that I hated Him for doing this to me again;
But this morning, I am sorry;
Being an imperfect mortal doesn't allow me to understand God;
Or to know the reason for His motives;
I have asked Him for his help again;
Not just to help me find another job:
But to help me to work as hard as I can until my current job is over;
And to encourage my co-workers;
Who are just as affected by this situation as I am;
My broken heart is held precariously together;
By the super glue that is called faith;
I just hope that with all the losses that I have endured;
That the glue of faith is strong enough;
To hold me together for awhile longer

I SOOOOOOOOO understand this. When we moved back to Virginia in 2004, it didn't occur to me that I wouldn't be able to get a job. I've ALWAYS had a job. I can everything from type 127 wpm (on a regular typewriter; much faster on a keyboard) to handle restaurant management to design floral arrangements (and other things too). Still, no one wanted to hire a woman who was nearing the age of 60. That's how I ended up freelance writing. Now I'm busy 24/7. Hang in there Lisa. Hopefully something will turn up for you as well.

My husband has been unemployed for a little over a year now, and my sister just told me the place she is working at will be closing for good in two weeks. It feels like everything is shutting down at least around here it is. When things are difficult that is when we really learn to trust in God alone to help us through the days that are just hard. But God is faithful and has promised to meet our needs if we place him first in our lives. I liked this piece you wrote, especially the part where you mentioned that your going to try to still do the best you can on your job as an encouragement for the other workers who are also affected by your plant closing.

So sorry. Company greed has got everyone in a bind. Praying you will find an even better job.

This past Tuesday, it was announced that our company would be closing in our area, and outsourcing our jobs to China. It is devastating for all involved...This company paid lower wages, and employed mostly minorities. The ironic thing about the whole affair is that I just got promoted two days before this announcement. The plant will be officially closed in our area on Nov. 24th, just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
