The Final Fantasy series is known for its flashy last battle stand offs. These battles usually involve epic music, consecutive fights and some of the most evil villains in the history of video games. Here are the top five last boss battles in the Final Fantasy series.

5. Braska's Final Aeon (Final Fantasy X)
Throughout the game, the giant monster Sin was terrorizing the land of Spira. In order to defeat him, you must do it from inside the frightening beast. The epic four-part fight involves an emotional fight with one of the more beloved characters in the game, Jecht. It was as intense as it was emotional. Braska's Final Aeon is what you expect a demon rock star to look like. The fight only got more intense when he reveals his giant sword. While the latter half of the last boss fight was unnecessary (you are guaranteed to win no matter what you do), the first part made up for it.

4. X-Death (Final Fantasy V)
This last boss fight started out simple enough: while the first part of the fight wasn't a pushover, it wasn't really a threat either. Then X-Death transformed into Neo X-Death and the fight instantly became the hardest last boss battle in the Final Fantasy series history. The newly transformed four-headed monster is simply deadly. His hard-hitting attacks coupled with random status effects infections means that he can literally wipe out your party in just a couple of turns. The hardest boss in Final Fantasy V was easily the last boss in the game.

3. Ultimecia (Final Fantasy VIII)
While Ultimecia wasn't the ultimate villain in the Final Fantasy series, she provided one incredible showdown at the end of the game. Unlike Final Fantasy X, the last boss battle with Ultimecia is an epic four-part that will challenge you in every phase. What is so great about this fight is that it changes the pace and mood from one part to another. It is as epic as a boss fight can be with adrenaline-pumping music, powerful attacks and the need to use all six party members. The difficulty becomes progressively harder to keep you on the edge of your seat. It will take at least 30 non-stop minutes to finally put an end to this epic battle for the ages.
