Breaking News: NBA Superstar Allen Iverson has been traded from Philadelphia to Denver today. The Nuggets sent point guard Andre Miller, forward Joe Smith and two first round picks in 2007 to Philadelphia for the services of the All-Star shooting guard.Since the suspension of the Nuggets top two scorers - Carmelo Anthony (15 games) and JR Smith (10 games) - for fighting over the weekend, there was abundant speculation that Iverson was a lock to end up in the Rocky Mountains. The problem became not a matter of time, but a matter of immediate need.
Iverson is second in the league in scoring - behind only Anthony - at 31.2 points per game. His scoring will be welcomed until Anthony and Smith make their way back into the Nuggets lineup.
Once they return, Denver will have one of the most potent scoring lineups in recent memory, a must for a team struggling to take the next step in a very tough Western Conference.
They will, however, miss the ball distribution that former NBA assist leader Andre Miller brought to the table. Expecting to start in Miller's departure is 5'5" Earl Boykins.
