The Fourth Annual Ol' Country's Boot Scootin' for PanCAN in memory of Cecil Davis will be held Oct. 22nd to benefit pancreatic cancer research. A barbecue dinner, dance, silent auction, and entertainment will be featured at Dance Makers of Texas at 8674 Camp Bowie Boulevard West in Fort Worth, TX. International exchange students volunteer every year for the event.
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) is a 501c (3) non-profit organization. The national Headquarters is located in El Segundo, CA.
You are welcome to bring pictures of loved ones for their "In Memory" display, if desired.
To mail donations, send to Virginia Griffin, coordinator, PanCAN Team Hope Texas Fort Worth, 2509 Wills Way Drive, Granbury, TX 76049. For more information, call 817-573-8896 or 817-578-1791. You may also email her at vgriffin@pancan.org. Early response is encouraged.
"Wonderful items have been donated to the auction," said Griffin, Fort Worth coordinator. "Each year it seems our event grows and just gets better."
You can go to the website, pancan.org/volunteer/fortw/ to download information to buy raffle tickets for a queen-size crocheted spread and quilt done in memory of two local pancreatic cancer patients. You can also email pictures of loved ones lost to pancreatic cancer to Griffin to be honored in a display at the event.
Gordon Harrison, chosen by ABC-TV to have a new home built on his behalf on "Extreme Makeover," has survived three pancreatic cancer surgeries. The show will air Oct. 9th. The PanCAN Network, formed in 1999, had their chance to offer its support on t.v. to Gordon and his family.
One of the biggest reasons pancreatic cancer is so deadly is there are no early detection tests.
You can also order a Life Bulb Kit from the PanCAN national website, pancan.org. The campaign spreads the message of hope and raises awareness about the cancer by placing bulbs in windows.
An "Evening With The Stars" fundraising event will be held Nov.11-12 at The Beverly Hilton in California.
