This easy to make Valentines Day Heart Cake is perfect for a party or even a fun dinner dessert for the family. I am always looking for fun way to decorate for the holidays and Valentine's Day is one of the easiest. There are so many possibilities. You can use this edible Valentines Day Heart Cake for a great gift for someone special as well.

To Make a Valentines Day Heart Cake You Will need:

2 of your favorite boxed cake mixes

2 Tub of Vanilla icing

Red Tube Writing Icing (2 to 3 tubes)

Purple or red food dye

Red tube icing for piping

Bake your favorite cake mix as usual. You need to bake it in a 9" X 9" baking pan. Bake the second box of cake mix in a round 9 inch baking pan. When you are pouring the batter into the two pans, make sure they are level. You will piece the two cakes together, so it would be best for them to be the same height.

Once the cake has cooled flip it out of the baking pans onto a large platter, carving board, or whatever you have. If for some reason your cake did not bake flat, use a large knife to trim a smooth flat surface for your Valentines Day Heart Cake design.

Now, cut the circle cake in half exactly. Play the square cake at an angel like a diamond. Place one half of each of the circle on the top left and right pars of the diamond shape. This will make a heart.

Now, you really should go ahead and place this simple Valentines Day Heart Cake on a board or serving platter before you decorate it. You will not be able to move it once you decorate it or you will ruin it.

Now, add a few drops of red or purple food coloring to 1 tub of the icing. You may need both tubs to adequacy cover this large sheet cake. Mix he icing and food color to make a pale pastel pink or purple like those great little candy hearts you find at valentines.

Coat the entire Valentines Day Heart cake with a thick coat of icing. Use your spatula or butter knife to make the icing really smooth and flat. The more smooth the better. In fact if you like working with fondant icing, that would be the best, but you can use regular canned icing for this. Reserve some icing aside for touch ups later.

  • Bake your favorite cake mix as usual.
