iPods are the most popular MP3 players, almost everyone has one and they are constantly coming out with new models. Since most people take their i-Pods just about everywhere they go, it can be easy for scratches to appear on the back and screen of the iPod, and no one wants that. To keep your iPod looking new, try putting a cover on it. The covers at the stores can be pretty expensive, and everyone ends up with the same ones. Making your own is a good way to save money and have a completely unique cover.

Materials
-Fabric (It does not matter what kind of material you use at long as it can hold the weight of the iPod and is not too thin)
-scissors
-sewing needle
-sewing thread
-ruler
-pins
-paper
-maker (or pencil)

Instructions
1. Take you iPod and place it on the piece of paper. You will use this to make a template for the fabric. Use the marker or pencil to draw around your iPod, the width of your cover should be just a little bit bigger than the actual iPod and the length depends on what you want to do. You can make a cover that does not close, or you can make one that closes with a button, or you can make one that closes with a flap. If you need more fabric, take this into consideration when drawing the template.

2. Cut out the template and place it on the fabric that you have selected. Trace the outline of the template onto the fabric, make sure that you use a marker with a fine tip, so that it will not bleed through and will not be able to be seen after you are finished.

3. Take you Pod and put it in the middle of the fabric. Make sure that the size is alright and that the iPod will fit. Fold the bottom of the fabric over the top of the iPod as if it were covering it already. When you have gotten the fabric where you want it, pin the sides in place so that you know exactly where to sew.

4. Remove the iPods and make sure that the pins are sturdy and will not move or fall out of place. Put the iPod back into the cover, just to be double check that this is the correct size.

5. Take the iPod out again and cut off the fabric that you will not be using. If you are making a flap, cut out the sides of the flap and make sure that the corners are the shape that you want them to be (circle, or triangular).

This is a useful idea, but wondering how many of the young set will give it a go.
