I was heading down the snack aisle at Costco when I overheard two women ahead of me talking about how great 'these' are. Of course that made me curious as to what 'these' they were talking about. As I drew closer to the two pretty young blond women, I could see that the item they were feigning over was a 'Costco-sized' box of General Mills' Fiber one Oats & Chocolate bars. One woman had asked the other if she'd ever tried them. The 2nd woman excitedly replied, 'Yes! Aren't they great?'

I considered grabbing a box of the allegedly 'great' fiber bars, as I passed the pretty, petite, young women, who were probably college athletes who had never eaten more than 1 tiny little M&M in 1 session, but I decided I'd better wait in case I didn't like them. I'd hate to spend extra getting a mega box of cereal bars when I may not even like them to begin with!

It happened so the next stop on my list of things to do was to stop at Wal-Mart. There I found a normal, regular-sized box of 6 snack bars, a little more reasonably priced at $4.99. $4.99 is still rather pricey in my book for a box of cereal-like bars, but they were supposed to be nutritional so I'd try them out just this once.

I found the Oats & Chocolate favor as well as another variety, which also looked pretty good. I went for the variety those two women had been ogling, the Oats & Chocolate.

My afternoon snack the next day proved to me that I'd made a good choice. I had purchased a small bag of chocolate-covered cashews to satisfy a chocolate fix I was having, when I remembered I'd brought in the more sensible Fiber One bar. Time to see how the General Mills Fiber One bar measured up! I set aside the cashews to give it a fair shake!

I got to try these in a strange way: apparently someone in front of me at the grocery store had neglected to pick up the box of these they had purchased, and the cashier accidentally put them in my grocery bag (which I didn't realize until I got home). I guess I probably should have taken them back to the store, but they just looked to good! (And they definitely were!)

I think I got a sample of one of these. Haven't been able to try it though because I'm on a strict no-dairy diet for now.
