The market for laptops is growing at a fast rate with new products coming out all the time. As laptops grow in popularity, the prices in various models have significantly decreased in the last years. Buying a laptop is an excellent idea for writers. There are many different reasons laptops are beneficial to writers; they are easy to carry and you don't need to first make notations on paper before you can start with making your writing work on computer.
There are some important things for a writer to consider when purchasing a laptop. To help figure out the kind of notebook which would best meet your individual needs you should ask yourself these questions:
- Do I write only at home or do I take my laptop with me to write in different places?
- Do I use pictures to accompany my writing?
- Do I use powerful software?
- Is a wireless system useful?
- Which price can I afford?
Writer's primarily use their laptop for browsing through different Internet sites, email communication, photo editing and web design. Most writers don't need powerful software like gamers do, and it makes no sense to buy the most expensive laptop if you don't need all the expensive features of the most sophisticated technologies.
The most important requirements which a laptop a writer may need are:
INTERNAL MEMORY
A writer mostly doesn't use the full capacity of their processor. However, a fast processor works quicker; the internal memory (RAM or random access memory) is more important for a writer. Writers need fast access to different programs and if the RAM of their laptop is not large enough, the computer will use the hard disk as virtual memory and the consequence is slowness during their work. The more RAM the better; I would recommend at least 1 Gigabyte for the internal memory of your new laptop.
SCREEN
The size and resolution of your screen is important. A larger resolution is better for getting more detail in your image and it is especially important if you open two applications or more at the same moment. Most laptops today have 15 inch screens and there are already many which are as large as 17 inch.
