The 2008-2009 Mourning Dove Hunting Season in North Carolina takes place in three different sessions, each with its own set of dates. The first session is September 1 through October 4, during this time, Mourning Doves can be hunted from noon until sunset.. The next two sessions are from November 24 to November 29 and December 12 to January 10, 2009. During these two sessions Mourning Doves can be hunted from half an hour before sunrise until sunset. North Carolina dove hunters can legally take 15 doves per day and can have a possession of 30 doves irregardless of which set of season dates they are being hunted in.

Dove hunters in North Carolina can legally hunt Mourning Doves in this state during the 2008-2009 dove hunting season if they possess a valid North Carolina resident hunting license, or a valid North Carolina non-resident hunting license, a HIP registration number and have successfully finished a hunter education program. The only exception to having these items is land owners or anyone who leases land to use for cultivation purposes. This also includes these peoples spouses and any children who are 18 years old or younger and live at home with the land owner or lessee. These particular dove hunters are not required to have these hunting items to legally hunt on their own property.
