Keeping an eye on America is much like parenting a child. We would hope that parents who love their child realize the immense responsibility they have assumed when a life is created. We would also hope that they embark on becoming role models, teachers, mentors passing the torch of knowledge and experience on to their creation, ensuring a future harvest of good works. A good shepherd of sorts, recognizing the child's weaknesses, and rewarding the strengths. I see little difference in the parenting of a child and the parenting of a country.Putting the burden of parenting a child on a school principal, or teacher, is just as absurd as believing that the burden of parenting our country should rest on the shoulders of a few good men in Washington, D.C. We, the people, are the source, force and motivation of this country's morals, or lack of them. Right or wrong, whatever happens to this country, now or in the future, is the direct result of our careful or neglectful parenting choices in who we hire as our country's care providers.
WE, THE PEOPLE, are bowing our heads in shame as we find ourselves caught in the throws of a four year war that has turned Iraq into a killing field. Could it be that the Decider made a wrong decision and could it be that Saddam ruled as he did knowing that it was the only way to keep the country's diverse groups from killing each other. The sugar coated pill of Democracy doesn't seem to have cured the disease of hate.
Before and during these past few years of the Iraq war, there have been protest marches, mothers crying, sons dying, women standing silent in black....WE, THE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT YOUR WAR.....but our voices were not loud enough, and our marches were not long enough. Suddenly protests were quieted with new laws and regulations that threatened our freedom of speech. Now, adults and children who put up signs or websites, wailing against the policies of the Decider, are snatched from their home or school and taken to FBI offices for interrogation in the name of HOMELAND SECURITY.
