Phish to Reunite at Hampton Coliseum in March 2009

The popular band Phish had a big following, including pot smokers, before disbanding in 2004. Before that, Phish had accomplished feats like being one of the top touring acts in the country, receiving a lifetime achievement award at the Jammy Awards, and making appearances on Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons. However, Phish is not finished with their accomplishments just yet. The Phish fans rejoiced when Phish announced they would be reuniting for three shows at Virginia's Hampton Coliseum in March 2009.

Phish's official website was the first source of the news that Phish would return. Guitarist/vocalist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, keyboard player Page McConnell and drummer Jon Fishman will return together for concerts from March 6-8 in 2009.

Phish will reunite at the Hampton Coliseum, a home to many of Phish's famous shows. Phish played at Hampton Coliseum on November 1998, a tour they would later release as a boxed set called "Hampton Comes Alive." Phish also went to Hampton in 2003 after coming back from a two year hiatus.

Since 1989, Phish has made over $175 million in grosses for their concerts, with over 5 million tickets sold throughout 475 performances. This made Phish one of the top touring acts in the country although mainstream appeal often eluded them. The band split up in 2004, in one of the rare cases where a band's split up was amicable.

Rumors that Phish would be reuniting had been circulating for some time. The band members were discussing it openly during the summer, as several Phish members had again collaborated during the 4'th of July in Michigan and at the wedding of former Phish road manager Brad Sands.

Phish agent Chip Hooper had called the Hampton Coliseum two weeks ago to start setting up the concerts, as Hampton GM Joe Tsao helped make the deal.

Tickets for the Phish reunion shows are available in a small supply on Phish's website, as requests can be made up for tickets until October 8. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on October 18.
