10 Significant Issues in ICT Environment

In this growing information and technology era people have been developing sophisticated and innovative ways to alleviate human works. It has also vastly changed the way human communicate with each other. However, all these progresses are not without issues. I
found that most of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) issues deal with ethics. In this case they call it as computer ethics. There is also another thing known as cyberethics.

Here, I will present some of the most important issues which are widely discussed in the global ICT environment.

1.
Software Piracy

Software piracy is the act of unauthorizedly duplicate and distribute a licensed software to the other users. As long as the act breaches the distribution policy stated in the license then it would be called as software piracy. Since there are several licenses that allow the user to copy and distribute it widely, then software duplication and distribution is not always a breach.

The impact of software piracy will cause the software publishers a large amount of financial loss. Subsequently, they would suffer from lack of funds to produce more products as well as financing new research to improve the existing products.

Some people distribute licensed software to the public because they believe that everyone deserves to gain knowledge at no cost. Therefore, they distribute the software widely to the global users, often using file sharing applications.

2.
Online Privacy

Privacy is a fundamental human right. Prior to the last century, privacy issues were only limited to what you see and what you hear. With the invasion of new technologies and global digitalization, privacy issues are becoming more complicated.

Nowadays, internet has also become a media that makes people hard to remain private. For example, communication via internet is prone to eavesdropping. Therefore, there are several attempts to support online privacy, such as applying encryption to email communication.
