As you may or may not already know, Adobe Photoshop provides you with tons of ways to complete the same task. In this tutorial, you will learn about the healing brush tool, a important tool to understand. In this tutorial, you will learn how to use the healing brush in photo retouching or editing. The healing brush tool will help repair small or damaged parts of any picture or image.

Amazingly, the healing brush tool can fix basically any unwanted mark on a photo. Wrinkles, blemishes, spots, scratches, you name it.

Step 1) Choose an image to work with. In order for this tutorial to show you the basics of this brush, select an image or photo that needs to be fixed (meaning the photo has blemishes).Select the Healing Brush Tool from the vertical menu bar. A good image might be one that has been scanned, since scanned images most always pick up any dust or finger prints on a print.

Step 2) Now, in the layers palette, pull or drag the background to the "create a new layer" icon at the bottom of the palette. If all of the editing is done on a seperate copy of the photo, then it can always be deleted if you dislike it, or just to save the original. After practicing a bit, you can always do the editing on the original file if you're confident in your work.

Step 3) Then choose a brush size 10 with 95% hardness. With the healing brush, its all about blending properly with surrounding tones and a 95% hardness brush will allow you to get better looking results..

Step 4) Next, in the options bar, for Mode, choose normal and set the Source to Sampled. Also, enlarge the image to 100% by double-clicking on the Zoom tool.

Step 5) Now find a white mark that needs cleaning up and hold Alt / Option and click beside the dirty mark, which starts the brush with a good selection of the image.

Step 6) Click the mouse over the dirty mark and the sampled pixels will form together into the image.
