It's indeed an amazing thing when one opens their eyes and takes a fresh look at the surrounding landscape. There is much to be learned if we allow ourselves to learn it. But first we must part with our partisan wishes and see truth for what it is, as opposed to what we wish it were. Here's a case in point.

In an American Spectator article dated September 30, it was put forth that, as the article was titled, "Democrat Leaders Played to Lose." On American Spectator online there is a section called the Washington Prowler, and the writer of said article goes by the moniker "The Prowler." The reporter confirmed what seemed to be at the root of the bailout bill's failure to pass, specifically that Democrat House leaders didn't want the bill to pass.

According to unnamed "leadership aides" Speaker Pelosi not only didn't want the bill to pass but in fact "Speaker Pelosi ordered her Majority Whip, Jim Clyburn, to essentially not do his job in his runup to the vote on Monday," (my emphasis) One leadership aide even went so far to announce "we didn't want the push for votes to be successful." The same aide added "This was not going to be a Democrat passed bill if the Speaker had anything to say about it."

Another aide offered "It worked out, because we didn't have a dog in this fight." Those words and especially the thought process behind them seems to sum up for all of us that because the bill was a Bush proposal, therefore Democrats "didn't have a dog in this fight." Here is stark and undeniable reality that when it comes to the choice of the nation's business or partisan politicking, at least as applied to Democrats, partisan politicking will win out over doing the nation's business every time.

Takeaways
  • Speaker Pelosi purposefully tanked the bailout bill.
  • Speaker Pelosi is running cover so Democrats will not be held responsible for this mess.
  • Democrats are worried the DOJ may investigate their actions leading up to the meltdown.

I have found a way to ask all our Congress people - in one e-mail - to get some of OUR money back by requiring that greedy CEO's and Wall Street financiers give BACK the landfalls they've walked away with! Go here: http://www.traditionalvalues.org/workfiles/09302008/alert.html - everyone may not agree with all of this group's philosophies, but this website page gives some ridiculous examples of recent CEO's "bonuses" while Middle America suffers, and an opportunity to quickly send an e-mail to our respective reps & senators. It's one way Dems & Repubs can work together! If you don't want to start receiving consistent e-mails from TVC, just unclick the 2 "message me" options at the bottom.
