Is 50 Cent the Next Big Cross Over Movie Star?

Many artists have gone from one genre of media to another in an attempt to be a cross over artist. Many don't have the ability but they try anyway, so they end up going from awesome singer to horrible actor or vice versa. A prime example would be DMX, he has made some movies and not one of them was a huge hit. There are various others that have tried to do the multiple talent thing, and some are actually very successful look at Will Smith, he went from rapper to television star to one of the most sought after, award winning actors in the business. So the question I pose is does Curtis Jackson have the ability to become the next big cross over star?

50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) has already starred in one film based loosely on his life and becoming a huge rap star. So that isn't a very hard act to pull off, "hey fifty cent you need to be a thug who sells drugs and is in a gang, then one day you become a huge rap star, so ummm...just be yourself." I actually enjoyed the movie and watching Curtis Jackson act, I was impressed. The guy can actually do a little bit of acting and I enjoyed his movie, mainly because I expected him to be a horrible actor and he wasn't.

A lot of times you see where a movie is made with singers who can't act, just look at any movie Lil' Romeo is in. He made me sick in Honey, talk about terrible acting. Don't forget about B2K stars Omarion Grandberry and Marques Houston in "You got served" that was possibly the dumbest movie ever with the worst acting ever. You can tell a bad actor as soon as they deliver a line, and Curtis Jackson is a good actor.

So why do I think Curtis Jackson is the next big cross over star? Well I saw something in him in "Get Rich or Die Trying", I didn't even like him that much before I saw the movie, but I saw something that I liked in him in this film. I am now a fan of his and I think others are fans now because of this movie. Curtis Jackson also was cast for Home of the Brave, a movie that looks to be very good. This time he isn't playing a thug, he plays a soldier who is struggling to re-adjust to life back at home after serving in Iraq. I think this proves that he has some acting chops; a director actually cast him in a role that will test his ability.
