Home Decor Craft Ideas: Shabby Chic Style Circle Frame

The Shabby Chic home decor style is one of the most popular today. This adorable Shabby Chic style circle frame is perfect for the top of an entertainment armoire or on a hall table.

For this project you will need:

- One pie tin, eight inches or larger

- Tin snips

- Craft knife

- Work gloves

- Medium grit sandpaper

- Soft cloth or tack cloth

- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White

- Krylon Make It Suede Textured Paint in Berber

- Ruler

- Fine tipped permanent marker

- Three inch by four inch favorite photo (or larger but trimmed to this size)

- Adhesive spray

- Black colored cardstock

- Scissors

- Hot glue gun with glue sticks

- Newspaper or large drop cloth

While wearing work gloves as a safety precaution, carefully remove the circle center of one pie tin with tin snips. Gently sand the edges of the tin circle with medium grit sandpaper. Wipe away any excess dust on the tin from this step with a soft cloth or tack cloth.

Place the tin circle flat on your work area. With a ruler and fine tipped permanent marker, draw a three inch by four inch rectangle in the center of the circle. Use a craft knife to cut out this shape. Set the rectangle aside.

Spray the pie tin circle with a thick coat of Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White, on both sides. Wait thirty minutes before adding a second coat. Allow the tin to dry for an hour.

Apply two to three coats of Krylon Make It Suede Textured Paint in Berber, pausing twenty minutes or longer between steps. Repeat the painting and priming process with the rectangle of tin. Dry overnight.

Gently sand random spots on the paint with medium grit sandpaper, exposing the primer underneath. (This adds to the Shabby Chic, aged appearance.) Wipe away any excess dust with a cloth.

Adhere the favorite photo to a sheet of black cardstock with adhesive spray. Once the glue has dried, measure and cut the cardstock piece to four inches by five inches around the photo.
