I'm a huge wrestling fan, so I heard rumors of Kane being in a movie a year ago. I have always been a Kane fan, so part of me was excited but a part of me knew how dumb the big screen can make you look, if you don't belong. Especially seeing some of the unsuccessful ventures by past wrestlers like Holk Hogan and Roddy Piper who never got that blockbuster success. However, none of them have ever been in this type of movie either.

The story itself, I thought as a whole, worked very well. Although it's not the most original, I will say it does slightly differ from some of its predecessors. The way the story plays itself out is definitely where it's flawed and I blame that on the director Gregory Dark. At times, I don't think he was sure if he wanted to be filming a slapstick comedy or a horror movie. So that I'm not misunderstood, there isn't any slapstick in this movie - it is a straightforward violent, gruesome horror movie. Yet during one violent chase scene, the focus is is taken from the actual participants and focused on a mouse also running. The other thing that irritates me about his direction is the subtle nature in the way the back story of the character Kane is developed. It's so subtle, it's almost not even there. Even when you finally do get the reveal, it's still not much and with Kane's character being such an obvious draw I wanted to see more. I wanted to know exactly why this character was the way he was. That leads us to the acting/cast.

That leads us to the performances and the only memorable performance was that of Kane. Although I can't say it scared me, Kane definitely has an intimidating presence on the big-screen. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see this character reborn another nine times like we did Jason Voorhees, which is sad because this is one of the few movies I actually would've liked to have a sequel for. Except for the rest of the cast's horrible dialogue, they were easily forgettable and at no point do you care if any of them live.
