UFC President Dana White has often talked about wanting to set up an event toward the end of the year or beginning of 2009 that could rival the Super Bowl in terms of popularity. With the announcement of the Rampage Jackson-Wanderlei Silva fight at light heavyweight for UFC 92, he might finally have a card that can at least come somewhat close to the Super Bowl hype.Jackson and Silva is the only non-title fight of the main three events at UFC 92 but it might be the most anticipated. Both fighters bring brutal, violent styles to the octagon and Jackson is seeking to avenge two past losses to Silva. The fight is also huge for the career prospects of each fighter.
Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira are also on the card in what could be the best jiu-jitsu matchup the UFC has ever seen for the Interim Heavyweight Title and the right to face the winner of Brock Lesnar and Randy Couture, who fight at UFC 91.
Finally, the Light Heavyweight Title is expected to be up for grabs in a match between Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans, two former Ultimate Fighter TV show champions.
UFC 92 is expected to be in Las Vegas. While it probably won't quite match UFC 91's expected pay-per-view numbers, it should come close and it should be an incredible night of fights for hard-core mixed martial arts fans.
if you're only going to get one pay-per-view this year, this should be the one.
