Whole World Hidden: A Halloween Poem
Tis the age-old celebration
On the night of Halloween
Realms of the dead meld with the living
And the veil lies thin between
Where departed dare cross over
And the fiends are free to roam
When restless spirits set in motion
Chill the bravest to the bone
What's that shadow in the alley
Do you dread the witching hour
Sordid souls to fill the darkness
Play on minds with phantom power
What was once a harvest pumpkin
Now wears a twisted tortured face
And the grimace of the gourd-man
A ghastly glow in night's embrace
Time worn tombstones in the distance
Misty apparitions mull the grounds
Seek escaping from the grave's grasp
As the ghouls go drag them down
Masked young ones run through moonlight
While haunted happenings go unseen
A whole world hidden on the dark side
Of your Happy Halloween
On the night of Halloween
Realms of the dead meld with the living
And the veil lies thin between
Where departed dare cross over
And the fiends are free to roam
When restless spirits set in motion
Chill the bravest to the bone
What's that shadow in the alley
Do you dread the witching hour
Sordid souls to fill the darkness
Play on minds with phantom power
What was once a harvest pumpkin
Now wears a twisted tortured face
And the grimace of the gourd-man
A ghastly glow in night's embrace
Time worn tombstones in the distance
Misty apparitions mull the grounds
Seek escaping from the grave's grasp
As the ghouls go drag them down
Masked young ones run through moonlight
While haunted happenings go unseen
A whole world hidden on the dark side
Of your Happy Halloween
