This involves contacting businesses, or in some cases, customers, and giving a brief introduction or "sell" to the prospect. Your job would be to heighten their interest and get them interested enough to set an appointment with a sales rep, view a demo, or receive material. Your main responsibility is to generate appointments for the sales reps or the company. The next one is lead generation. This involves generating good, reliable, and fresh leads for appointment setters or sales reps to contact.

The next is Market Research, which involves calling prospects, businesses or consumers, and collecting data or conducting surveys. The next type of telemarketing is database cleaning, which usually means calling businesses or residents and verifying information. For instance, you would call a business and ask the name, number, fax, and email address of a particular person in that organization like a vice president. Your main responsibility is gathering accurate, up to date information on leads. Although these companies pay an hourly wage, you will need to produce results in order to keep the job. They don't plan on paying you a decent wage for long, if you are not producing the results they are looking for, so you will need to enjoy doing this type of work and be good at it.
