Door county Wisconsin if on the east side of the state of Wisconsin and it has a large boarder along Lake Michigan. Door County has a 75 mile long peninsula with Lake Michigan bordering both sides of Door County. The shores of Door County are rocky with caves, arches and cliffs that the water of Lake Michigan lap against. Since door County has so much lakeshore is also has a lot of fishing going on. Small fishing villages and farms and orchards make up a lot of the landscape of Door County. As you drive along the countryside you can see the orchards in summer or winter the scenery is fascinating. Door County looks more like the New England areas then it looks like Wisconsin. You can see a lot of history in Door County

The American Indians and trappers that were in Door county found islands that are at the peninsula's end and thought the islands to be traceries. They named the channel between Door Counties peninsula and the islands the porte des morts or Death's Door. From which the peninsula and the county take their names. The American Indians and the fur traders followed Sturgeon Bay which allowed easier access to the trade route to the head of Green Bay.

Much of Door County is made available to tourist and there are plenty of things to see and do at Door county Wisconsin. In the summer you can sail hike or play golf at one of the nearby state parks. You can find events in the summer such as the summer theater, concerts and fish boils. In the spring you can see the cherry trees in blossoms and the apple orchards in bloom. The sand beaches along the shoreline are attractive in the summer as well.
