Jack-O-Lantern: A Halloween Poem for Families

Jack-O-Lantern's, wide, toothy grin;
"Who soaped the window?"
"Not my twin!"
Parents waiting for children small;
"Where's my little one?"
"Be careful, all!"
Children crying out, "Trick or treat!"
"Hold out your bag!"
"It's something sweet!"
Soft lights flickering, in the breeze;
Leaves are descending from the trees.
Ghosts and goblins, all flying by;
Witches on broomsticks, sweeping high;
Clowns and scarecrows, rocket man too;
Black cats, kittens, bunnies, a few.
Snow flakes, flurries, I see them fly;
Too soon for them to swirl right by!
"Too much candy!"
"My tummy is sore!"
"Let's go home!"
"No, one door more!"
"Bobbing for apples, in a gray tub?"
"You're making popcorn?"
"Rub-a-dub-dub!"
"Wizard, some magic up your sleeve?"
"Hot chocolate!"
"Will they ever leave?"
Halloween night...
"Survived it?"
"Yes."
Balloons and streamers...
"Who's that?"
"Guess!"
Jack-O-Lantern, still perched on a step;
One more pumpkin, we'll not forget.
"Blow out the candle!"
"Turn out the light!"
No more Halloween treats this night!
