Whenever Saturday Night Live gets a good and popular idea for sketches, they tend to repeat them over and over. This season, SNL has gotten their most attention in years for Tina Fey's now famous Sarah Palin impression. Therefore, with little else to distinguish SNL this season, the sketch comedy show brought Fey back for the third time as Sarah Palin in last night's cold opening. This time around, SNL spoofed the Vice Presidential debate between Palin and Joe Biden, and also brought along another special guest star.

Since SNL is notoriously short of black cast members, they had to bring a guest star to play debate moderator Gwen Ifill. Queen Latifah, a frequent SNL host who is promoting her new movie The Secret Life of Bees, came on to play Ifill. Latifah spoofed the criticism over Ifill's book about Obama and Governor Palin's low expectations for the debate, then SNL went on to focus on Palin and Biden.

In an 11 minute long sketch parodying the debate, Fey did her now traditional parodies and goofy mannerisms that resemble Palin's own goofy mannerisms. Though Palin had less embarrassing material in the debate, Fey still got to parody Palin's constant winking to the camera, her garbled speech, and her constant referring to herself and John McCain as mavericks.

For the first time in her stint as Palin, Fey was not paired up with her friend Amy Poehler. SNL veteran Jason Sudeikis, who has done several guest spots alongside Fey on 30 Rock, played Senator Biden. For those who would complain about SNL being biased against Palin, this sketch threw those critics a bone by getting in some digs on Biden, to ensure the sketch wasn't one sided.

Sudeikis spoofed Biden's back-and-forth praise and criticism of John McCain, and also had Biden comically trash his own home city of Scranton, Pennsylvania to prove he isn't an elitist.

But although Biden was made to look like a goofball by SNL, Fey's Palin was still made to be more gaff-ridden and foolish, as per usual.
