Does having less cash and less credit put a cramp in your love life? Are you hesitant to ask anyone out on a date for fear of seeming cheap or poor? If you are forced into financial frugality, but would still like to have the occasional quality date, here are some ideas for low cost dates that you can try.

Pack a picnic lunch or dinner for your date, and take them to your favorite park or hiking trail. For about $20.00, you can pack an excellent meal that will include wine or another equally impressive food or beverage item.

Invite your date to your home and cook for them. You only need to be able to make one meal well to pull this date off. Set the mood with candles, and soft music. If possible, eat on a terrace or balcony for extra ambiance. If it is cold outside, eat in front of a fireplace.

Museums and Planetariums are great low-cost places to take a date. Check your local art or science museum to find out when you can get in for free, or a discount. Then spend the afternoon or evening viewing the artwork or exploring together.

Meeting for coffee is a great inexpensive first date. It is also a great date idea for busy people. For less than $20.00, you can enjoy coffee and even a sweet treat and get to know each other a lot better.

Invite your date to a local festival or community event. Citysearch.com website will reveal numerous free events in your area on an ongoing basis.

There are several options for cheap theater tickets that you can secure and use for dates. You can volunteer at as a theater usher, you can also attend local college and high school productions. It may not be Broadway, but it is certainly fun.

Take your date to $1.00 Movies. Every city has $1.00 or $2.00 movie theaters. The movies may not be recent releases, but they are generally very good and probably not released on video or cable TV yet.

Take your date on a walking tour of the local city or community. Many communities put on tours of homes at the holidays, tours of historical areas of the cities, and even ghost tours. These can be inexpensive or even free if you can download a map from the community website and tackle the tour on your own.
