There are many comic book superhero movies coming to the big screen in the coming months and years. The new superhero coming to you is Green Lantern. If you don't know much about him, don't worry; this article will help you out.

A Green Lantern is one of many people that go by that name. They are an intergalactic force that patrols a particular sector in space. The one that the movie will focus on is the one that patrols the earth sector, also know as sector 2814, his name is Hal Jordan and he is commonly said to be without fear.

The Green Lanterns get their power from the most powerful weapon in the universe: A Power Ring. This ring turns your thoughts into something, anything you can imagine. The ring needs to be recharged ever 24 hours by using a personal battery that looks like a lantern, a green lantern to be precise. This lantern gets its power from the main power battery on the planet Oa. It collects the ambient will power across the galaxy to be used by the ring. In order to use the ring you must have willpower. The color of willpower in the emotional color spectrum is green, hence the name Green Lantern. The rings only weakness is the color yellow. This is an impurity in the ring later revealed to be a fear entity. The color of fear in the emotional spectrum is yellow. The colors fallow the rainbow but I doubt they will mention any others in the movie at all.

The corresponding colors and their emotions are: Red=Rage, Orange=Avarice, Blue=Hope, Indigo=Compassion, Violet=Love, Black=Absence of Life/Resurrection. The Black emotion has yet to be properly explained. It will come about in May of 2009 in the story line: The Blackest Night.

Hal Jordan was also a member of the Justice League. The Justice League was also another comic book movie that was going at a fast pace to come to theaters. Sadly it has hit a rather large roadblock. In that particular movie the superhero known, as Green Lantern was to be the character John Stuart played by the actor/rapper Common.
