Night-time can be the best time for everyone, the cats are asleep and quiet, or so we think.
"Rrrraaawww!" screams Goldie when my mom woke up and accidently stepped on her tail as she and Goldie where both going to the kitchen to get something to eat.
Goldie is very small and dark, so it is easy to step on her when in a dark room. We never, ever, mean to step on our cats or anything like that, but they will get into places or be in places where we will go, and we will not see them and then our feet cause problems for them. After a while they get used to it, but it is not fair to them or us.
In my house, there lives two humans (my mother and I) and the three cats. When the holidays or birthdays roll around, there can be five people living in my house and the three cats. My brother was responsible for taking care of Dubby. He loved Dubby because Dubby was like the cat version of my brother.
Frisky would stay with my mom because they both have similar personalities. They are both pretty quiet, they both are relaxed and the both lead.
Goldie is my cat through and through. If I were a cat, I would be my Goldie. She and I have the exact same personality. We both are outspoken, we are both girls, we both want attention, we both love brushing our hair and playing around, we can both be drama queens, we both love food, we love television and books, and we love shopping. Yes, we are both typical girls, in a way, we can be like the guys too.
In the wintertime, the cats can be quite calm and sleepy. In fact, they will almost hibernate. They will join in a kitty pile and they will bundle up in some blankets on my bed.
My room tends to be the warmest room in the whole house. No one knows why that is, but it is perfect for the cats in the winter.
When the cats get too close together or wake up, they can get crabby. In fact, they will swat their paws at one another because they want each other to move away and go somewhere else.
Frisky is usually the mediator and he will attempt to make things right with everyone. His attempts do not always work. He ends up having to leave the room and he lets Goldie and Dubby settle things for themselves.
They settle things alright. They go back to sleep right next to each other. You guessed it, Goldie and Dubby are like a romantic couple. When Frisky leaves the room, Goldie and Dubby can have some alone time with one another.
Goldie loves Dubby a lot, and she will clean him and let him eat first sometimes because she wants him to protect her. Goldie knows that having powerful allies is a good thing for her. You never know when they will come in handy.
Dubby has killed many a prey, and if and when Goldie was outside and seemed to be in trouble because another cat would try to attack her, Dubby would stand up for her and attack back. Dubby would end up the winner, but even if Goldie was not around, he would end up the victor because he would start the fight.
Dubby is neutered, and yet, he still marks his territory. He still thinks that he is not neutered and that he is an alpha male. I see Goldie and Dubby as a king and queen. They want to rule and they want to dominate. I think that why I love them so much. They want to be at the top no matter what.
Believe it or not, cats have personalities all of their own. They can be a lot like we humans can be. Even though they have no society, speech, an upright position, and thumbs, they can still be like a lot like humans.
Cats know that when I threat comes around, it is time to band together, they know that when food is scares, they have to hunt and help on another out until food is more abundant.
After Dubby had killed his prey, he would give the rest of it to his family, Frisky and Goldie, and the humans. He believed that this would be of help for all of us and it was also his prize. His symbol of dominance and that he may look cute and adorable, but he can kill.
Cats seem easy to predict sometimes, but that is not always true. My cats find a way to amaze me.
Goldie has toy puppies that she loves to mother, I guess this is because she wanted to be a mother. I bet she would have made a good one because when I get ready to sleep, she comes up to me to lick me and sleep next to me. She wants me to love her. I love her no matter what.
The boys are the same way.
Ever since David's death, Dubby has seemed lost and he has seemed a bit troubled. He knows something is missing and that it is not coming back, so he comes to me and my mother for comfort.
When Dubby was a kitten, I trained him how to hug people. Goldie was no different, she too knows how to hug. This was something that I wanted the cats to know how to do because my family loves hugs.
Well, they learned how to hug so well, that they would hug one another at times. It makes us feel good to know that we did something right.
These cats may seem normal at times, but they are not. They are the reason that I want to live and they are the reason that I write this story.

They can be, but that is the fun of owning them.

It is funny how cats have personalities similar to our own. They can be moody and tempermental just like us.
