Misty May-Treanor Injured; Leaving Dancing with the Stars

Misty May-Treanor injured her Achilles tendon this past week, and will be forced to stop participating on Dancing with the Stars. In an interview on a radio show this morning, fellow contestant Brooke Burke broke the news that he new friend would not be able to keep competing on the hit reality show. This isn't the first injury that has occurred on the show, but this could be a huge loss to the show, which saw Misty as one of the more talented dancers in this year's cast.

The other major concern for May-Treanor, is that the injury to is to a vital tool she needs during her career as a volleyball player, and injuries to the Achilles tendon and heel are not problems that heal quickly. Information was scarce at the time of the interview, but Burke went on to say that "This is her jumping mechanism, so we're all really concerned for her. She may be having surgery this week. We don't know yet. But it's such a bummer."

The competition resumes Monday, October 6th on ABC, but no official announcement has been made as of yet in regards to which direction the show will be going. In the past, if someone got injured on a reality show like this, they would offer the chance to another contestant to come back on the show, or they would just move on with one less dancer. With the show already scheduled for a certain number of episodes though, ABC will probably have to find a solution where they either replace May-Treanor with someone voted out previously, or have this be a non-elimination week on the show. One of the possibilities is also to have Kim Kardashian, who was booted from the show last week, return as if nothing had happened.
