At 0-4 the Detroit Lions front office or what is left of the front office after President and CEO Matt Millen was fired, need to realize the 2008 season is over.

The stats in this regard do not lie. They have been blown out in each of their four games, they have failed to score a single point in four first quarters, and they have failed to look competitive in any of the games played so far.

Now that they have fired half of the problem it is time to focus in on who can help this team in the future. Let us be real honest here Head Coach Rod Marinelli is going to get fired eventually so that might as well be now. The team has not responded to him and he will be gone anyway, why keep him around?

Along with him the entire coaching staff needs to be replaced. They will eventually get fired as well, but one cannot run a team without a coaching staff. So there needs to be a new sheriff brought to town. If Bill Cowher can be talked into this job, then I say why wait? Why not bring him to town today and let him start evaluating thing for 2009. The sooner that process begins the better off the team will be long term.

If Cowher is going to be the guy get him in here and let him start working with the current players, so that he can determine who should stay and who should not. They will not be able to completely turn over their roster in one off season, but if the new head coach can get in here and start to understand what exactly is broken then the sooner that they will be able to get it fixed.

Two things should happen immediately, first QB Jon Kitna should be benched. Kitna is a NFL back up QB at best, and lately he has looked incredibility frazzled. It its long past the time for him to not be the starter. The Lions have two young QB's already on the roster Dan Orlovsky, and Drew Stanton. The sooner the team finds out if they are anything the better. The second is the trading of WR Roy Williams.
