American Lung Association Healthy Air Walks - California

The American Lung Association of California is once again hosting Healthy Air Walks in that state to promote lung health. (Source: lungusa.org).

On Oct. 11 Oakland hosts theirs at The Bandstand at Lake Merritt at 10 a.m. with event check-in beforehand at 9:00. The event goal is $325,000, according to the agency.

Californians breathe some of the unhealthiest air in the nation, and American Lung Association-funded research shows that air pollution can worsen and even cause lung disease.

In unrelated event news, the annual American Cancer Society Cowtown Ball will be held Oct. 18, 6:30 p.m.-12 a.m. at Will Rogers Memorial Center's Texas Room at 3401 W. Lancaster Boulevard.

Oct. 19 another healthy walk will be presented in Irvine, CA at the University of California Irvine at Aldrich State Park. Event check-in is at 8 a.m. with the walk following at 9:00. This year's event goal is $200,000.

On the same day will be another walk in San Bernardino at 9:15 a.m. at California State University. The goal is $170,000, according to literature.

November continues with more healthy walks such as the one in Los Angeles Nov. 9 in downtown Burbank. This year the goal is set at $400,000.
