Pray

As he drove down the road he noticed the daylight was rapidly fading, in fact it was rapidly getting dark. As he drove he looked around, there seemed to be nothing on this road. Excepting a few trees, dogs, and scattered houses, as he drove he shivered slightly. Why he could not tell. It was as if he had just looked into his own casket, seeing his lifeless body there. That was an unnerving thought; he shuddered as the thought once again crossed his mind.

It had been a long day, seemed everything that could go wrong had gone wrong. He had argued with his ailing parents, his fiancé had threatened to break up with him, his boss had not been happy to say the least all day. But this had happened many years ago why was he reliving in his mind that day once again?

He was glad the day was coming to a close; he would stop on his way home, and get a bite to eat, maybe a drink to relax. Then he would go home, take a shower sit down in his favorite chair, maybe play a video game, or watch a movie, before going to bed. The day would start the over again in the morning. Perhaps tomorrow would be a better day. (But this was a memory of yesteryear, long forgotten).

Well that was the plan anyway. But as he left the diner his mind was distracted, his thoughts were on many things, and he had driven this route many times before, why should this time be any different.

(Distraction seemed to follow him most days now, why had he came this way, he knew better, this road was haunted he knew, and he knew why.)

As he left the bar having enjoyed himself for the first time all day, his meal had been exceptionally good, and the bar maid had kept the drinks coming, he had relaxed and felt much better. Leaving the bar he stopped at the gas station to pick up a couple of items before going home.

(Thoughts from the past nagged at him distracting his making it seem as if he were reliving that day, but it was only in his mind, he tried to push the thoughts from his mind.)
